Sun, warm sand, and the perfect moment for a selfie. For the Marchenko family, it was supposed to be a normal weekend on the Black Sea coast. They just wanted to keep bright memories of a warm August day in their family album.
At first glance, the shot looked perfect for Instagram. Smiling faces and blue water created a flawless picture of a summer holiday. No one present even suspected that the camera had captured something much more interesting and strange.
Only in the evening, scrolling through the smartphone gallery, did the father suddenly stop. He zoomed in on the background of one of the shots and felt his heart start to beat faster. What he saw looked like an illusion, but it was far too real.
He called his wife to make sure he wasn’t just seeing things from exhaustion. She looked at the screen and almost dropped the phone in surprise. In the background, right behind their backs, a scene was unfolding that was impossible to explain with simple logic.
