3. Iran
This is a trap for Western travelers. Despite its incredible ancient history, modern Iran has a terrifying reputation for arbitrarily detaining foreigners (especially dual nationals) on trumped-up charges. You could be held for weeks, months, or years as a bargaining chip. Don’t risk it.
